A trip to Nice for the winners of the francophone competition for students in grade 12 [fr]

The three winners of the 2014 francophone competition returned from linguistic and cultural visit to Nice courtesy of the Embassy of France in recognition of their achievements.

They recount their experience:

  • Ella (South Africa)

My experience in Nice was absolutely amazing. It was two weeks full of baguettes, French shops, new experiences and good people.

My French teachers at Azurlingua were like my friends and my lessons were full of fun and laughter, but at the same time I learned a lot.

There were people from different countries at the school and it was interesting to learn different about cultures.

I liked the independence and freedom that this trip afforded me. I will never forget my trip to France, it was the perfect time to immerse myself in French culture, and of course my French has improved a lot.

Thank you to everyone for the opportunity and see you soon, France.

  • Kananelo (Lesotho)

At first the idea of winning a trip to France was unbelievable, but believe me, I will cherish the memories for life.

Nice is a place where you find peace and there are a lot of places where you can have fun, like the beach. The atmosphere is very relaxing and the people are friendly.

Of all the visits we made, my favourite was Monaco. It was great. When I studied French in high school I always said "one day I will go to France" and now my dream has come true. Life is good in Nice.

  • Mpiti (Lesotho)

Going to France was really a mind-opening experience for me. Not only have I managed to improve my speaking skills, but I also gained a new understanding of the French culture and lifestyle.

I enjoyed the tasting famous French dishes such as snails, croissants and frog legs.

I also enjoued visiting some of the most picturesque places on the French Riviera. I made friends with some really interesting French people.

A big thank you to the organisers of the trip.
