Ambassador Barbier visits Decathlon in Soweto [fr]
She was accompanied by Jacques Torregrossa, French Trade Commissioner in Southern Africa, and his team, and Serge Boscher, Head of the Regional Economic Service for Southern Africa.
This store is the very first Decathlon in South Africa, run by Arnaud Gauquelin, General Director of Decathlon Southern Africa. Ambassador Barbier was able to see the different products that are already being sold (more than 550 different products can already be found in-store). The pop-up store of 500m² opened at the beginning of May.
Decathlon, a French brand, is one of the world leaders in sports equipment. It is present in 22 countries around the world and aims to double its presence within 5 years.
Arnaud Gauquelin: ‘We wanted to open this pop-up store in Soweto, in order to communicate directly with those who need us most”. The aim is to open more stores in South Africa in the near future.
