On 7 October 2014, H.E. Ambassador Barbier visited the campus of the African Leadership Academy (ALA) in Johannesburg.

The ALA offers 1- and 2-year pre-university programmes to young leaders from all African countries with a passion for Africa, entrepreneurial spirit and a track record of community service. The academic course of study qualifies students for entry into top universities around the world.

About 30% of the ALA students are from francophone African countries and some of its graduates are now studying at leading French higher education institutions like Sciences Po.

Ambassador Barbier particularly enjoyed the lively discussions with the ALA students about her diplomatic career, her experiences as a woman in politics and her vision of French-African relations.
