Campus France promotional tour for French institutions in South Africa [fr]
The first Campus France promotional tour for French institutions in South Africa took place from 3 to 7 March in Johannesburg and Pretoria, Durban and Cape Town.
Eight French institutions of higher education were represented in South Africa. These include the University of Toulouse, the Catholic University of Lyon, VATEL Business School, Ecole des Mines de Nantes, Ecoles des Mines d’Albi-Carmaux, EDHEC, Grenoble International School of Business and Ecole Nationale des Mines de Metz.
The first objective of this tour was to promote academic networks and partnerships between French and South African institutions of higher education, and to provide a platform for the exchange of information and the establishment of potential collaboration agreements between academic and administrative staff in various academic fields.
The institutions met with representatives from the University of the Witwatersrand and the Vaal University of Technology, and also visited the campuses of the University of Pretoria, the University of Kwazulu-Natal, Durban University of Technology, the University of the Western Cape and the Cape Peninsula University of Technology, where they met with administrative representatives and academics from a variety of fields.
The delegation also visited the National Research Foundation, where they met with various representatives of the NRF and Higher Education South Africa (HESA).
The second objective of the tour was to promote student mobility through the establishment of exchange agreements with universities, and also to facilitate meetings between the representatives from these institutions and students who would be interested in pursuing a full Master’s degree in France. Students had the opportunity to meet with the French schools and gather information about programmes and admissions on three occasions – at the Alliance Francaise of Johannesburg, the Alliance Francaise of Durban and the Alliance Francaise of Cape Town.
