The Economic department of the French embassy in South Africa is in charge of all economic, financial and trade relations between France and South Africa. It covers all other Southern African countries : Angola (with a resident office in Luanda), Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique (with a resident office in Maputo), Namibia, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
The Economic Department monitors the economic situation of South African countries and reports to the French Government on all macroeconomic, financial and trade issues.
A major part of the work of the Economic Department involves encouraging and facilitating trade between France and South Africa. It offers comprehensive export promotion assistance through a variety of programs and services to French businesses interested in doing business in Southern Africa, as well as to Southern African businesses interested in importing French products and services.
