Docteurs Mérieux Chair and Christophe Mérieux Prize 2015 [fr]

Each year, the "Docteurs Mérieux Chair" allows a foreign scientist specialized in infectious diseases and zoonosis to be hosted in a French laboratory. The Research Chair titular will be supported for a 12 months stay and will contribute to develop a research project.

Furthermore, the Christophe and Rodolphe Mérieux Foundation of the French Institute delivers each year an international scientific prize, the Christophe Mérieux Prize, dedicated to further research on infectious diseases in developing countries. This award is exclusive to researcher teams who work on the ground in these countries.

Docteurs Mérieux Chair

The "Docteurs Mérieux Chair" was created by the French national academies of medicine and sciences, and the French Institute, thanks to the support of funding from the Christophe and Rodolphe Mérieux Foundation.

Candidate profile
The candidate must be an experienced researcher specialized in infectious diseases and zoonosis in a developing country.

Ability to speak French is also required.

Selection process
The recipient is chosen from nominations solicited from within the hosting laboratories and is selected by a jury composed of two members of the "Académie nationale de médecine", two members of the "Académie des sciences" eand two representatives représentants appointed by the Christophe and Rodolphe Mérieux Foundation.

The hosting period may start on September of the following year.

Christophe Mérieux Prize 2015

Exceptionally, the Christophe Mérieux Prize 2015 will be awarded to a research team working on the Ebola virus.

The laureate team leader will personnaly receive 100 000€ while 400 000€ will be awarded to finance the research programme.
