European Ambassadors invited to Durban
On January 29th and 30th 2014, H.E. Elisabeth Barbier, Ambassador of France was invited to Durban by the Kwazulu-Natal provincial government, with several other Ambassadors and High Commissioners of the EU member states in South Africa, including EU Ambassador, Roeland van de Geer.
The purpose of the visit of the EU delegation in Durban was to discuss the prospects for closer cooperation between the EU member states and South Africa, especially in terms of trade and investment. During this 2-day visit, the delegation took a tour of Durban port by boat, met with the KZN Tourism office, and held a seminar on economic development in KZN with KZN Economic Council, Durban Chamber of Commerce and Industry and KZN Growth Coalition. The Ambassadors also attended a dinner hosted by Premier of Kwazul-Natal, Edward Senzo Mchunu.
The program allowed interesting exchanges about Durban’s plans for development and future challenges and opportunity for KZN.
Durban is Africa’s second biggest and the southern hemisphere’s fourth biggest harbor.
