Fête de la Musique
The Fête de La Musique held in Melville in 2013 was celebrated by more than 10,000 people and was one of the main events of the French season in South Africa 2012. Based on last year’s success, the event, supported by a range of sponsors, promises to offer a wider range of music and other activities in 2014.
As last year’s edition, the street will be brought to life with live performances along 7th Street, turned into a pedestrian friendly zone for music-lovers to truly enjoy the live music performances within restaurants and bars and on various stages.
The “Fête de La Musique”, Melville Music Day, welcomes everyone, including families. It is a fun and exciting showcase of diverse local (amateur or professional musicians)and international music, celebrated in a safe and inclusive atmosphere that brings communities together in a popular and free event.
The Fête de la Musique 2014 is brought to you by the Melville Residents Association (MRA), the Melville Business Association (MBA), the French Institute of South Africa (IFAS), the Délégation Générale des Alliances Françaises (DGAF) and the Alliance francaise of Johannesburg.
