French pavilion at NAMPO 2015 [fr]
The NAMPO Harvest Day, Grain SA’s agricultural fair, took place in Bothaville (Free State) from 12 to15 May 2015.
With 600 exhibitors and 70 000 visitors this year, NAMPO is the largest agricultural fair in sub-Saharan Africa. For the second consecutive year, BusinessFrance had a "Pavillon France" involving 10 companies in the sector. The event was very successful and highlighted the French offer in the agricultural sector.
The Ambassador of France to South Africa, H.E. Elisabeth Barbier, visited the show on May 14 in order to support the French exhibitors and to highlight the French offer in this sector.
The French pavilion consisted of 10 French companies and organizations in the agricultural sector specialized in agricultural and forestry machinery (French Union of Agricultural Machinery Manufacturers AXEMA, MX, Simon and Piacenza equipment), food and animal health (Vitalac, Obione Lacto and production), livestock (Silofarmer and Jordan) and inputs (Ecosystem). The majority of these companies were represented at NAMPO for the first time with the aim of showcasing their products and entering a partnership with one or more distributors.
French companies with a longer presence in South Africa had their own pavilion at the fair : Monosem, Manitou, Michelin, C-Lines, Virbac, Merial, Taurus-Evolution and Dosatron.
The equipment, inputs and animal feed sectors represent a growing market in South Africa with an import market of more than € 2 billion. In 2014, the total French exports for these products amounted to € 103 million, agricultural and forestry machinery representing 55%.
