Hello Tomorrow, a French initiative aimed at supporting young entrepreneurs [fr]
Following on from French Tech, in which the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development is involved, Hello Tomorrow is a not-for-profit initiative aimed at promoting young entrepreneurs from all over the world with projects that are based on the development of innovative technologies.
In this context, the ministry, through its embassies and consulates, will support the organization of Hello Tomorrow conferences in a dozen cities around the world throughout 2016. An international conference is also scheduled to take place in Paris on October 13 and 14, 2016, in order to promote French entrepreneurial excellence.
Hello Tomorrow, a French initiative with a global reach aimed at supporting innovation and entrepreneurship
Hello Tomorow aims to swiftly establish links between young talented individuals and economic actors (venture capitalists, investment funds, etc.). Its goal is to foster innovation within companies of all sizes in strategic areas: energy and environment, health, transport/mobility, food and agriculture, waste management, water, data transparency, supply chain management, and space. Hello Tomorrow—headed by Xavier Duportet, who was named French Entrepreneur of the Year in 2014 and then appointed the new export coordinator in the field of “Improved communications / Emerging technologies”—will help raise the profile of the French innovation ecosystem and enhance our country’s attractiveness.
After the success of the major Hello Tomorrow conference in June 2015 and its international start-up competition, several events will be held with the support of the diplomatic network in 2016 :
- Beginning in May, "XTOMORROW" events are scheduled to be held in 12 cities: San Francisco, Bangalore, Tel Aviv, Singapore, Shenzhen, Munich, London, Boston, Sao Paulo, Istanbul, Islamabad and Lima. They will have between 200 and 300 participants each—among them experts, entrepreneurs and investors. These events will help promote France’s attractiveness with respect to innovation and showcase the country’s technological and entrepreneurial excellence through various success stories.
- An international conference is scheduled in Paris for October 13 and 14 at the CENTQUATRE art venue.
This conference will focus on high-value technological innovations and will highlight interdisciplinarity. It is expected to attract 3,000 participants, with sessions on innovations slated to arrive on the market in 2018-2020 as well as round tables on the uses and impact of innovations that are transforming the French industrial fabric. A €100,000 prize will be awarded to a winning startup at the end of the conference.
On the sidelines of the plenary sessions, nine spaces will be occupied by various industrial partners accompanied by representatives of the best startups selected through an international competition. They will host workshops and very specialized mini-lectures as well as technology demonstrations. An Investor Day will also be held during the conference to bring together startups and international investors that are influential in each area of the competition.
Hello Tomorrow officially opened its 2016 international startup competition on April 19. Applications may be submitted until June 17. The 100 best startups selected will have a chance to pitch projects to investors during the big Hello Tomorrow Conference to be held in Paris in early October. As noted above, the winner of the Hello Tomorrow Challenge will be awarded a prize of €100,000 to expand its activities.
