Human to be screened at the Bioscope on May 20 2016 [fr]
HUMAN a documentary by Yann-Arthus Bertrand will be screened on Friday 20 May 2016 in Johannesburg. Come and join the Alliance Française of Johannesburg and The French Institute of South Africa at the Bioscope to watch Human and celebrate the World Day for Cultural Diversity.
HUMAN is a 2015 documentary by French environmentalist Yann Arthus-Bertrand. The film is almost entirely composed of exclusive aerial footage and first-person stories told into the camera. It was the first movie to premiere in the General Assembly Hall of the United Nations, to an audience which included U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon. HUMAN is a collection of stories and images of our world, offering an immersion to the core of what it means to be human. From stories of everyday experiences to accounts of the most unbelievable lives, these poignant encounters share a rare sincerity and underline who we are – our darker side, but also what is most noble in us, and what is universal. Our Earth is shown at its most sublime through never-before-seen aerial images accompanied by soaring music, resulting in an ode to the beauty of the world, providing a moment to draw breath and for introspection. HUMAN is a politically engaged work which allows us to embrace the human condition and to reflect on the meaning of our existence.
This event is supported by the Alliance Française in Southern Africa, the Fondation Alliance française, and the Fondation GoodPlanet, the Bioscope and the French Institute of South Africa.
