IRD grants for PhD and scientific exchanges (deadline: 27.05.15) [fr]
IRD is calling for projects within the framework of its programmes for the support, reinforcement and consolidation of research potential in developing countries: Research grants for theses (ARTS) and scientific and technological exchange bursaries (BEST).
The ARTS programme is for masters (or equivalent) students from developing countries who are planning to do their doctorate within the framework of an existing partnership between an IRD research unit and its partners from the developing country.
This year there are three ARTS calls:
1. One for new projects
2. Two on the following themes:
• Infectious diseases (Central Africa, West Africa, South-East Asia, Indian Ocean and Madagascar) for four theses, cofinanced by the Fondation Merieux and IRD.
• Medical Applications in Lebanon for two theses cofinanced by IN2P3-CNRS and IRD.
These grants will come into effect from 1 February 2016.

BEST is for technicians, engineers and researchers affiliated to a research institute or higher education organisation in developing countries.
BEST aims to take candidates in IRD research units or research institutes associated with IRD, in developed or developing countries, outside of their country of residence for a period of time with a view to gaining knowledge, new techniques and methods as well as developing professional skills and higher education qualifications.
