Launch of the strategy “France’s external action on challenges relating to population, rights and reproductive health 2016-2020

On October 4 2016, Minister of State for Development and Francophonie André Vallini presented a report on France’s strategy with respect to its external action on challenges relating to population, rights and sexual and reproductive health for 2016-2020 at the Palais de la Femme.

Laurence Rossignol, Minister of Families, Childhood and Women’s Rights, and Babatunde Osotimehin, executive director of the United Nations Population Fund, also were in attendance.

André Vallini identified France’s priorities in this area: improving regulatory frameworks, expanding access to modern methods of contraception, and facilitating young people’s access to sexual and reproductive health.

On Tuesday 11 October 2016, International Day of the Girl Child, the Embassy of France in South Africa will host a panel discussion on Best Practices to Promote Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights for Young Women at the Alliance Française Pretoria.

For this event, the Embassy has partnered with the South African Department of Social Development, the United Nations Population Fund’s Eastern and Southern Africa Regional Office, the Soul City Institute for Social Justice and Lesedi la Batho NGO.
