Thomas Piketty at the 13th Nelson Mandela Annual Lecture [fr]

French economist Professor Thomas Piketty on 3 October 2015 delivered the 13th Nelson Mandela Annual Lecture, at the invitation of the Nelson Mandela Foundation, at the University of Johannesburg’s Soweto campus.

Ambassador of France to South Africa, HE Elisabeth Barbier attended the lecture with Deputy Head of Mission Ms Charlotte Montel.

Piketty, a Professor of Economics at the Paris School of Economics, is the author of numerous scholarly works published in journals and is also the author of a dozen books. His seminal book, Capital in the Twenty-First Century, translated from French into English last year, has marked him as one of the most important and influential thinkers of our time.

On October 2, Piketty accepted an honorary doctoral degree in Economics – Philosophiae Doctor (Honoris Causa) – from the University of Johannesburg (UJ). Read more here.
