The French Embassy of South Africa congratulates two French Nobel Prize winners !

Jean Tirole

France’s Jean Tirole won the Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences. Tirole, 61, wins for his analysis of market power and regulation. He teaches at the Toulouse School of Economics. The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences praised Triole for his work on "how to understand and regulate industries with a few powerful firms," adding that he "breathed new life into research on such market failures."

Patrick Modiano

French writer Patrick Modiano won the 2014 Nobel Prize for Literature. He has been referred to as "the Marcel Proust of our time". The Parisian has written more than 30 works including novels, children’s books and film scripts.
