Paris and European Union mayors mobilise for climate [fr]

On March 26 2015, Mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo met with officials from capitals and major cities in the 28 Member States of the European Union to act together against climate change: a meeting in preparation for the climate conference COP 21 to be held in Paris in December.

Paris Mayor, and Ignazio Marino, Mayor of Rome, met at the Hotel de Ville in Paris with representatives from capitals and major cities across the European Union to promote action and everyday solutions to fight climate change.

The mayors of Rome, Athens, Brussels, Bucharest, Geneva, Lisbon, Madrid, Sofia, Stockholm, Warsaw, Vienna, Lyon and Bordeaux were present along with French President Francois Hollande, the Minister Foreign Affairs Laurent Fabius, and European Energy Commissioner Miguel Arias Canete.

  • COP21:

From 30 November to 11 December, Paris will host the 21st Conference of the Parties (COP21) and its 40,000 delegates from around the world. This conference is a crucial deadline that represents the end of a round, by registering a direct extension of the large COP 1997, which led to the adoption of the Kyoto Protocol.

From 4 to 7 December, Paris will hold parallel summit of local governments for the climate, under the aegis of United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) to carry the voice of cities and regions around the world and offer them a forum Unique in the negotiations.
