Political dialogue forum France - South Africa [fr]
The 2014 Political Dialogue Forum between France and South Africa took place on December 2 in Paris. These meetings, bringing together general secretaries on an annual basis, are part of the bilateral strategic partnership.
The discussion focused on the strengthening of bilateral economic relations, in regards to the organisation of the next economic joint commission at the beginning of 2015. France highlighted its disposal to establish a long-term partnership with South Africa on the basis of the nuclear cooperation agreement signed on 14 October 2014, and meeting the country’s needs regarding training, jobs creation, industrialization and safety.
On the topic of global issues, the importance of South Africa, who hosted the Durban conference in 2011, in the revitalizing of the negotiation process on the fight against climate change was acknowledged. France and South Africa agreed to work together for the success of the upcoming conference Paris Climat 2015.
The next session of the Political Dialogue Forum will take place in South Africa in 2015.
