Reopening of export of French beef to South Africa [fr]

M. Stéphane Le Foll, Minister of Agriculture, Agri-food and Forestry and spokesperson of the French Government and M. Matthias Fekl, State Secretary in charge of foreign trade, of the promotion of tourism and of French people living abroad, welcomed the announcement of the lifting of an embargo on French beef and offal by South Africa after a five-year negotiation.
At the same time, negotiations are still underwayto allow the reopening of meat (with bones) in South Africa as soon as possible.
This announcement from the South African Government, following the announcement from the Vietnamese Government on the 2nd September and from the Singaporean authorities on the 13th August, to lift their embargo on the exportation of French beef, is good news and reinforces the Government’s action to implement a support program for French farms on an international level.
