Robyn Orlin made a Knight in the French National Order of Merit

On 28 February 2009 renowned choreographer Robyn Orlin was awarded a knighthood in the French National Order of Merit. The award is in recognition of her spirited and dedicated work in the sphere of arts and culture.

Her work has been performed in France to great acclaim, for instance her commentary on Aids “We Must Eat Our Suckers With The Wrapper On” which was reworked at the Théâtre de la Ville of Paris in 2002. In France she has collaborated with established dance institutions such the Centre National de la Danse, the Théâtre de la Ville and the Opéra de Paris on works such as “Porgy & Bess” at the Opéra Comique.

Currently, she is working on a new work to be performed at the Louvre in September and October. This work forms part of her “Babysitting Series”, a series of pieces performed in different museums around the world with the museum guards.
