S&T - IRD grants for scientific exchanges and PhDs [fr]
The IRD (Institut de Recherche pour le Développement) launches two calls for proposals, open until the 12th of May 2014.
BEST grants are designed for researchers, engineers and technicians from a centre for research or further education in a developing country, who would like to follow one or several periods of training in a research centre that is outside their country of residence:
- a research unit with a cotutelle of the IRD;
- a research organism associated with the IRD.
The purpose for researchers is to acquire specific skills, to learn new techniques and methods, to uplift their qualifications or to graduate with a high level diploma.
Candidates must send their applications before the 12th of May 2014 to the following address: email@example.com. Grants will be allocated from the 1st of February 2015.
PhD grants are intended to support PhD students from southern countries who are willing to write a thesis under a partnership between an IRD jointly-supervised unit and a southern research team.
One call will be open to all subjects, and the thematical calls are the following:
- IRD and the Mérieux Foundation offer 4 PhDs: Infectious diseases (Indian Ocean & Southeast Asia);
- IRD and the French Institute for Nuclear and Particle Physics (IN2P3) of the CNRS offer 2 PhDs in Lebanon: application of physics in medicine, and in particular the nuclear methods and tools used in the fight against cancer.
