South Africa day for higher education in Paris
On 13 October 2015, 15 South African universities are gathering in Paris for the first South Africa Day for higher education organised by Campus France – the state agency in charge of promoting higher education – and the French Embassy in Pretoria, with the support of the Embassy of South Africa in Paris. The objective of the event is to present and promote South African universities as attractive partners for French higher education institutions.
The event will take place on 13 October 2015 from 9am to 5.30pm, at the Alliance Française headquarters in Paris and will gather vice-chancellors, international relations directors and heads of research and innovation at 15 South African universities to meet with 45 French universities.
The participating universities from South Africa are the University of Cape Town, Stellenbosch University, University of Witwatersrand, University of Johannesburg, University of Pretoria, Durban University of Technology, Vaal university of Technology, Central University of Technology, University of Venda, University of Limpopo, University of Fort Hare, University of the Western Cape, Cape Peninsula University of Technology, Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University and the University of KwaZulu Natal.
The morning programme will be dedicated to presentations of both countries’ academic systems and examples of successful bilateral partnerships. The South African Embassy in Paris will do a presentation of the South African higher education system, focusing on its policy regarding student attractiveness. The afternoon program includes short B-to-B meetings between representatives of both countries, allowing each institution to maximize the number of meetings with potential partners.
