Three South African films selected for Annecy Film Festival [fr]

Three South-African animations are among over 200 films that will be showcased at the Annecy Film Festival, which will take place in France between the 13th and 18th June 2016.

Stick Man, directed by Jeroen JASPAERT, Daniel SNADDON: Out for his regular jog, Stick Man is picked up by a playful dog and launched on a series of unfortunate adventures that take him ever further away from home. The seasons pass, until Stick Man meets a surprising friend who might just be able to help him get back. But will he make it home in time for Christmas?

Arid, directed by Charl VAN DER MERWE, features the story of a boy and his bull companion who travel across the arid African landscapes in search of a safe refuge. Within the beauty of surreal landscapes lurks dangers they’ll soon have to face.

’n Gewone blou Maandagoggend, directed by Naomi VAN NIEKERK: One Monday morning, a girl gets ready for school. In the ghetto neighbourhood where she lives, violence and tragedy are part of everyday life.
