French Oenovideo prize awarded to Embassy bursary holders [fr]

Two young South African filmmakers, media specialists, wine enthusiasts and Master’s scholarship recipients of the Embassy of France in South Africa this year, have been awarded the prize for creating the Best Film for Wine Professionals at the 2014 annual International Œnovideo Grape and Wine Film Festival.

Œnovideo is an annual festival and competition for films on wine, and is one of the largest and oldest wine film festivals in Europe. It takes place each year in a different wine producing region, this year in Valençay.

Ms Kristen Duff and Ms Gosia Podgorska received their prize in the Senate, at the Palais de Luxembourg, on 10 September. Their film, titled "Generation Wine", was one of the 12 best films of the year, awarded to films from 7 different countries. "Generation Wine" explores the South African wine market in the context of the fight against alcoholism and against the industry of wine marketing, and how this can be influenced by possible future legislation.

Ms Duff and Ms Podgorska have now started their studies towards MSc degrees in Wine Business at the School of Wine and Spirits Business of the Burgundy School of Business in Dijon, thanks to a bursary offered by the French Embassy in South Africa.
