Vacancy announcement : ERAfrica Project Administrator

IRD AND ERAFRICA


IRD is the French Institute of Research for the Development, headquartered in Marseille (France). In 2009, IRD employed 2208 staff including 829 researchers, with an annual budget of 231 M€. IRD was commissioned to coordinate the ERA-Net (European Research Area Network) for Africa, called ERAfrica, a project that is part of the European Commission 7th Framework Programme, aiming at strengthening collaborations in S&T between Europe and Africa. In this ERA-Net, 12 partners – 9 European member states and 3 African countries (Egypt, Kenya, and South Africa) will co-finance and manage common research and capacity building activities.


GEOGRAPHIC ASSIGNMENT


The ERAfrica Project Administrator will work at the IRD and CNRS Representation Office in South Africa, based at the Innovation Hub in Pretoria.


JOB DESCRIPTION


Mission : The ERAfrica projects aims at strengthening co-operation in Science and Technology, Research and Training, between African and European countries through common, co-financed activities. Within this framework and in tight collaboration with the IRD Coordinator of the Project, the Project Administrator will manage all the administrative and financial activities of the project and be involved in the achievement of some of its tasks (deliverables/milestones).
