Women in Science Awards [fr]
On Friday 15 August, Professor Priscilla Baker won the Distinguished Woman Scientist (Natural Sciences and Engineering) category at the annual Women in Science Awards.
The awards were hosted by the South African Department of Science and Technology and reward outstanding female scientists and researchers, and encourage younger women to follow in their footsteps.
Professor Baker, from the University of the Western Cape, specialises in the application of frequency-modulated electrochemical techniques that can be applied in water analysis and treatment, and to detect the presence of toxic chemicals produced by fungi in fish.
She is currently a visiting fellow at Université de Cergy-Pontoise in France.
